T-Mobile plans to provide super-capacity 5G to 90% of Americans by the end of 2023

According to MacRumors, T-Mobile plans to rapidly expand the availability of 5G across the United States. The company’s goal is to provide “super-capacity 5G” to 90% of Americans by the end of 2023. “Ultra-capacity 5G” includes T-Mobile’s mid-band and millimeter wave 5G connections. The company also plans to provide slower “extended range 5G” in 97% of the US by the end of 2022.

As emphasized by The Verge, T-Mobile shared this prediction at a virtual analyst event held on Thursday. Currently, 125 million people can use T-Mobile’s “super-capacity 5G”. By the end of 2021, this number will expand to 200 million.

According to T-Mobile, as T-Mobile uses the spectrum obtained during the merger with Sprint to build a 5G network, those users who can use “super-capacity 5G” can expect the speed to increase from 300Mb/s to 400Mb/s.

T-Mobile recently purchased a C-band spectrum (also available to Verizon and AT&T), which will begin to be used in 2023 and will help the company achieve its availability goals.
