It is reported that Microsoft Windows 10X will be postponed

Microsoft has remained silent on the Windows 10X plan. After announcing the strategy of shifting the platform from a dual-screen PC to a single-screen PC, the company did not give any information on the timing of the launch of Windows 10X.

As early as May, Microsoft stated to Windows Central that it hoped that Windows 10X would be launched on the first batch of single-screen PCs in the first half of this year. For Microsoft to do this, it needed to sign the shipping version of Windows 10X in December, but this did not happen.

According to a source from Windows Central, earlier this year, Microsoft decided to postpone the launch of Windows 10X a little bit later to ensure that the product is ready and can be released smoothly. It believe that Microsoft’s current goal is to sign the shipping version of Windows 10X in the late spring and to start shipping Windows 10X on the first batch of single-screen PCs later in the second half of this year.

It also said that Windows 10X will still not natively support Win32 applications when it is officially launched, because the company will promote Windows virtual desktops and cloud PCs as streaming media solutions for traditional applications.

The goal of Windows 10X is still low-cost education and an enterprise-focused PC. It is reported that Windows 10X launched this year will not really focus on consumer devices. On the contrary, the existing Windows 10 PC will receive a major update from Sun Valley, and it is rumored that it will add new features and a modern user experience in an attempt to rejuvenate the Windows desktop.
