The new Tesla electric pickup Cybertruck design has no door handles

Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted on Twitter that the Cybertruck electric pickup truck will not have any door handles. This will be one of the most specific adjustments in Cybertruck’s new design, in addition to slightly reducing the overall size. The first prototype of Cybertruck had the same door handles as other Tesla models.

Although he did not disclose the technical details of the realization of the doorless handle design, Tesla has been studying the technology to make the door open and close automatically for many years. Tesla’s Model X has automatically opened and closed the doors since 2015, and will automatically open the doors when the driver approaches the car.

The upcoming Tesla Roadster introduces a sliding button to open the door, and Cybertruck may use a similar setting. In the Tesla third-quarter earnings conference call in January, Musk said that Cybertruck may be on the streets as early as the end of 2021. Musk said earlier this month that he would disclose more Cybertruck information in April.
