Apple MR headset released in the next few months

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release MR headsets in the next few months. MR is a mixed-reality, which is a mixture of AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality). In addition, the MR headset conference will be held offline, not an online virtual conference.

About Apple rumors will launch VR/AR headset as early as 2015 began, but has not become a reality. Apple’s last offline conference was in September 2019. Later, affected by the global epidemic, all conferences were held online. Apple hopes that employees, media, partners and developers will be there.

Previously, Bloomberg predicted that Apple’s first AR/VR headset will take the high-end route, which is very expensive and is mainly for developers. Apple’s internal expectation is that each retail store sells one MR headset per day. This means that there are 500 Apple Stores worldwide, with annual sales of about 180,000 units.

At the same time, Bloomberg also predicts that Apple plans to launch MR headsets as soon as next year. If the news is true, then the press conferences in the next few months are specifically for developers, so that developers have time to prepare for a new VR experience.

This operation is similar to last year’s Apple chip Mac. Apple announced at WWDC that it will switch to self-developed chips in the future, and launched DTK to facilitate developers to optimize Apple chips in advance. Rumors say that Apple’s MR device will use dual 8K screens, support eye-tracking, and have more than 10 cameras to track hand activities.
