According to a report by Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, Apple is moving towards a record sales of 240-250 million iPhones in fiscal 2021, surpassing the previous sales record of 231 million iPhones in fiscal 2015.
Ives estimates that there are currently 350 million iPhone users worldwide who are in the “window period of upgrade opportunities”, which he believes will “transform into an unprecedented super upgrade cycle for Apple this year.”
“Although it is generally predicted that the iPhone sales in FY21 will be approximately 220 million units, we believe that based on the current trajectory, Cupertino still has the potential to sell 240 million units (approximately 250 million units may appear- -This is an eye-catching number), which will easily surpass Apple’s previous record of 231 million sales in FY15,” Ives said in a research report shared with MacRumors today.
