Microsoft optimizes News and Interests to create a more personalized content platform

In the past few months, Microsoft has continued to improve the “News and Interests” (News and Interests) feature, which will display news similar to Google Discover and stories based on user interests on the taskbar. In addition to news, this feature also displays weather information in the user’s area.

This new feature belongs to Windows Search and Shell and can be upgraded through Windows Update. In fact, Microsoft can also optimize the basic user interface and add some small features through server-side updates. These updates are pushed through the Windows Search service.

In the latest update of “News and Interests” in the Windows 10 taskbar, Microsoft has further improved the personalization panel. To enter the new personalized menu, you need to click the “Manage Interests” button, which will launch Microsoft Edge to help users choose topics they are interested in.

As you can see in the screenshot, you can view the personalized page by clicking the “Get started” button. On the next screen, you can click on the “My interests” option to customize the news source with the topics and publishers you want to follow.

For example, you can update the news source to include entertainment, sports, and other categories of news. If you select a topic, click the follow button, you will see more about it; if you don’t like it, you can right-click to hide it.

This new “My interests” page adjusts your source of information by adding publishers from the Microsoft News Network. Featured publishers include Fast Company, Bloomberg CNN, Fox News, etc. If you want to adjust the content, you can manage publishers at any time from the “Following Publishers” menu in the left navigation pane.

Remember, you need to use Microsoft Edge (Chromium version) to access these taskbar news feed settings. This page cannot be accessed through Google Chrome, Firefox or other browsers.

Microsoft is currently rolling out these improvements to selected testers in the Windows Insider program. This feature is only available in certain locations. At the time of writing this article, taskbar feeds with personalized menus are being launched in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and India.
