Google.com search results page adds keyboard shortcuts to quickly edit search keywords

The desktop version of Google.com ushered in a small adjustment, which now allows you to quickly “jump the cursor focus to the search box” with a convenient keyboard shortcut, which is particularly useful for improving the original query keywords. Just press the left slash “/” on the result page, and the search bar will automatically become an input mode to accept new keywords or edit existing keywords.

When the input focus returns to the search box, the cursor will appear at the end of your existing/current query, and the search suggestions will be reloaded below for quick selection with the arrow keys.

Considering how it works, the expected usage of this keyboard shortcut appears to be a perfect keyword. It does not work on the Google homepage, because on the homepage, the search field itself is already activated when the page loads.

Google is informing users of this keyboard shortcut through an information box in the lower-left corner of the search results page. Starting today, this shortcut has been widely available. Previously, users could click the “Tab” button on the keyboard to access accessibility features, and after learning the shortcut key combinations, they could only use the keyboard to navigate the search page.
