Sony updates DualSense controller firmware to improve vibration performance

This week, Sony introduced an update to the DualSense controller for PlayStation 5. It has been reported that this controller has improved the vibration effect for PlayStation 4 fighting games. The DualSense controller update was launched together with a major firmware update for PS5, allowing players to transfer games to USB storage, but there is no official patch description.

The report shows that the vibration of DualSense is more obvious when playing PS4 games. Since the PS5 came out in November last year, compared to playing PS4 games on PS4, the vibration effect of playing PS4 games on PS5 feels weaker. Obviously, the vibration generated by the DualSense using haptic feedback technology is not the same as the vibration generated by the DualShock 4 motor.

Now after the update, the feedback that players get from DualSense is closer to the vibration of DualShock 4 when playing PS4. Reddit user TJangoRechained said: “In games like Rocket League and God of War, this kind of vibration improvement is immediate.” After playing backward compatible games for 5 months, I noticed this. I don’t understand why they didn’t mention this issue like anything else in their statement. Maybe they plan to further improve it over time.
