Google introduces new features in Chrome 90 to create links with highlighted text anchors

An upcoming feature in Google Chrome 90 will allow users to create a link to a section of their highlighted website. Last year, Google first introduced a browser extension called “link to text snippets”, and now Google has added this feature to the Chrome browser itself. New features are still being rolled out to users gradually, and many users have failed to make it work after updating to Chrome 90.

But according to a blog post by Google Product Manager Kayce Hawkins (Kayce Hawkins), this feature works and operates almost exactly the same as the previously released browser extension: visit a web page, highlight the link you want to create Text, right-click and select “Copy link to highlight”.

Then, a URL ending with # will be generated, and then you can share it with anyone. When they open the link in Chrome, they will be positioned to the anchor of the specific highlighted part, not the beginning of the page. Google said that the “copy link to highlight” feature is already available to some users on desktop and Android devices. The company added that the feature “soon” will be available on iOS.
