Samsung registered Pro-Shield trademark for smartphones and smart watches

After registering the Armor Frame trademark, LetsGoDigital revealed Samsung’s newly applied Pro-Shield trademark. The Armor Frame trademark obtained earlier is designed to enhance the frame strength of Samsung mobile devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 released in the second half of 2021 are expected to adopt this technology. But the newly mentioned Pro-Shield solution can be applied to new mobile phones and smartwatches respectively.

It is reported that Samsung filed the Pro-Shield trademark application with the UK Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO) on April 27, 2021. The registration category is the 9th category covering smartphones, mobile phone frames, and smartwatch frames.

As for the difference between Pro-Shield and Armor Frame, it is speculated that the former may have extra protection on the outer layer to make the device more sturdy, drop-resistant and scratch-resistant. In addition, the application documents did not mention the form of the protective cover or cover.

However, the most likely scenario may be the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch that Samsung plans to launch in the second half of 2021. It is said that this new product abandoned its own Tizen platform and instead invested in the arms of Google Wear OS. In addition, in July, Samsung may release the Galaxy S21 FE series of smartphones that target young customers, but the legendary Galaxy Watch 4 is unlikely to be unveiled with it.
