Apple launches a new ad slot in the App Store search tab

According to the reports, Apple is using new advertising spaces on the App Store to invite developers to reach users before they search. Since 2016, developers can publish ads through App Store search results, but users must initiate a search first. Now, users will see a new section in the App Store search tab before querying.

When users click on the search tab of an App Store app, they will see a list of apps under Discover and Suggested. Apple has been testing a new advertising location under Recommended for you, and now developers can conduct advertising campaigns for that location.

It is reported that the advertisement is not for a certain keyword, but is displayed based on the metrics collected by Apple’s advertisement. Users can select Privacy in the settings application to turn off the targeted advertising in the App Store, and then scroll to the bottom to select Apple Advertising. Turning off personal ads will not remove the ads in the App Store or reduce the number of ads.

Apple has recently made some major changes in the advertising field. iOS 14.5 and macOS 11.3 include the app tracking transparency feature, which will ask the user’s permission before enabling cross-app tracking. Apple’s internal advertising does not rely on the same system and does not track users outside of the App Store.
