Samsung and LGD will provide flexible OLED panels for the iPhone 13

It was reported that Samsung Display and LGD have confirmed that they will provide flexible OLED panels for the iPhone 13 to be launched this fall. BOE, which entered the iPhone OLED panel supply chain for the first time last year, has not yet received supply approval. According to the report, the new iPhone 13 series will still contain four models. Two of the iPhone 13 Pro series models will use Samsung’s 120Hz LTPO OLED panel, support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and bring an intelligent adjustment of the screen refresh rate.

Omdia expects that Apple will launch the iPhone 13 series with a 120Hz LTPO screen this year, and Samsung Display and LG Display are ready to supply LTPO backplanes for the Apple iPhone 13 in 2021. The advantage of LTPO is that the refresh rate is more refined, which can ensure battery life to a large extent, and even reduce power consumption by 15-20% compared to the 12th generation.

It was previously reported that Samsung and LG were transforming their panel production lines to convert LTPS OLED to LTPO OLED, thinking that the new generation of iPhone services is expected to be completed in the first half of the year.
