Google optimizes Chrome global media controls to adjust album cover size

Google and the Chromium developer team are actively studying the Global Media Control (GMC) in the Chrome browser and have already shown some improvements in the roadmap published on Chromium Gerrit. Now, Chromium developers want to adjust the size of the album art on GMC.

The team pointed out that the album cover was too large and needed to be reduced to fit the square, and planned to fill the rest of the square with the background. The team’s plan is to use favicon if there are no cover media, and use blank squares if there is still no cover.

The developer also wants to add a device selector drop-down menu to the control. Another welcome change is the addition of volume control, which is also very useful when using the picture-in-picture mode. Finally, Google hopes to make some style changes to the shipping button.
