Epic Games admits that its developer agreement will ban rule violators

According to the reports, Apple stated in the Epic vs Apple case that Epic Games will not tolerate violations on its platform, which is similar to the behavior that led to the withdrawal of Fortnite from the App Store. Epic Games technical director Andrew Grant explained in court on Wednesday why games like “Fortnite” cannot be released as web applications.

However, during his testimony, Apple’s lawyers began a series of inquiries to make sure that Epic is similar to Apple. It is reported that Epic has signed a developer agreement with Unreal Engine and is actively implementing the rules of games such as Fortnite.

For example, Apple’s lawyers asked Grant whether anyone who cheated in Fortnite could be permanently banned. According to a report from The Verge website reporter Adi Robertson, Grant gave an affirmative answer. The lawyer then asked Grant whether the Epic brand relied on people having a good experience in Fortnite and everyone is in an equal competitive environment.

“If the integrity of the game is destroyed, people will think that these rules no longer apply to them, then they will not play this game again.” Apple’s lawyer continued. In addition, he also said that this will lead to a “vicious circle” of the platform.

Although not directly stated, Apple compares it with Epic’s removal of Fortnite from the App Store. Epic Games violated Apple’s developer guidelines by implanting a direct payment system in a patch of the game to bypass Apple’s in-app purchase platform and was delisted by the latter.

On the other hand, Apple’s lawyers called Epic Games’ execution of the secret patch program “dishonest” and “a lack of integrity. In response, Grant said that he did not know how to deal with this description.
