Apple’s survey of Apple Watch users hints at interest in blood glucose monitoring

Apple is investigating Apple Watch users in Brazil, asking questions about eating habits, medications and blood sugar level monitoring. The survey raised a series of general questions about the Apple Watch user experience, including built-in health features such as standing reminders and activity rings. It is worth noting that it also contains questions about third-party health functions.

The questionnaire received by 9to5Mac specifically asks whether users use third-party applications to manage health information and data. Some of these options include monitoring eating habits, tracking exercise, and monitoring blood sugar levels.

Apple has used such surveys in the past to investigate user interests before the launch of new features. For example, as early as June 2020, it asked Brazilian users about the USB power adapter that was once bundled with the iPhone. Later in 2020, for environmental reasons, it cancelled the power adapter in the iPhone package.

There are also a series of rumors that Apple is exploring to increase blood glucose monitoring functions on the Apple Watch. Earlier in May, a document from the US Securities and Exchange Commission hinted that blood glucose monitoring would be introduced. A report in January indicated that Apple is testing the “reliability and stability” of blood glucose monitoring.

In addition, Apple has applied for many patents, focusing on non-invasive measures that can monitor users’ blood sugar levels. These patents and patent applications date back many years.
