OnePlus brings Clipt: A cross-platform clipboard for Android

OnePlus is rapidly growing with its brilliant ideas and technologies. Now the company introduced Clipt and has assembled the OneLab team for this. Clipt is a clipboard tool that allows you to exchange texts, photos and other files between your Android phone and a computer running Chrome in just a few clicks.

As we know that the tech giant Google has come up with the solution of sharing files between Android and a computer. For this, it launched functions such as sharing link addresses of websites via Google Chrome, and the Nearby Share function to share a file or text between phones or between a phone or Chromebook. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to share files between Android phones and Windows or even Mac OS or Linux via Nearby Share. OnePlus brings the solution of this matter and for it introduced clipboard tool called ‘Clipt’.

Clipt is a tool available for Android phones from all manufacturers – so you don’t need to own a OnePlus phone, although it does require running Google apps on the phone. With the digital clipboard you can send text, photos and other files. The application does not have a file limit for the files to be sent, unlike e-mails and some other services that allow sharing files between devices.

Send via Drive

The latest information indicates that OnePlus uses Google Drive to transfer files between devices. So how large files can actually be depends on the available storage in Google Drive. Before OnePlus can send files via Drive, it will ask for permission to read files in the storage. According to the company, that poses no privacy risks as the app can only read files that it stores in Drive itself – so it cannot access other files from the cloud storage service.

If you want to try Clipt, you will need to use Clipt on an Android phone and Chrome on a computer that allows downloading Chrome extensions. You then need to be logged in with the same Google account on both devices, after which you can start sharing files. Check the complete video below.
