Are you looking for a Chromecast? Then you can choose from three different options. With a Google Chromecast, you can give any TV with an HDMI connection the functions of a smart TV. Thanks to the HDMI dongle, it is possible to stream movies, series, photos and games from your smartphone or computer to the larger TV screen. Chromecast with Google TV (2020)
The latest Google Chromecast is the Chromecast with Google TV. This one appeared last and is the only device in this buying guide with remote control. The HDMI dongle from 2020 also distinguishes itself from Google TV, the spiritual successor to Android TV. Thanks to this new operating system, you can install apps from all kinds of services on the device, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus. You no longer have to stream movies and series to your television from your smartphone, but just do this on the Chromecast itself. Streaming from your phone is also possible if you prefer this.

The dongle also supports 4K, so you can watch series and films in a high resolution. Only the Chromecast Ultra can also handle these high-quality images. Because the Chromecast with Google TV is newer and has more to offer than its predecessors, the device is also more expensive. The HDMI dongle costs around 95 euros in the Netherlands, which makes it a lot more expensive than the normal Chromecast. Because the device is not officially available in the Netherlands, you also pay more here. You pay 69 euros abroad (for example in Germany or France).
Chromecast (2018)
In October 2018, Google unveiled the third generation of the Chromecast. With this HDMI dongle, you can again stream movies, series, photos and games to your TV. However, there are a few differences with the other available models. For example, the Chromecast (2018) supports full HD and not 4K. The image quality is therefore slightly less compared to the other dongles.
A big advantage is the price of the device. The Chromecast costs $47, making it the most price-conscious option. If you don’t want to spend too much, the regular Chromecast is the best choice. Keep in mind that the options are a lot more limited.
