Xiaomi surpasses Samsung to become the number one smartphone brand in Spain by market share

A new report from Counterpoint shows that Xiaomi has replaced South Korean giant Samsung and won the top spot in the Spanish smartphone market in March 2021 for the first time. According to the report, Xiaomi accounts for 35% of the total Spanish smartphone market, followed by Samsung with 34% market share, second only to Xiaomi. Apple ranked third with a 14% market share, and the remaining companies accounted for the remaining 18%.

In March 2020, Xiaomi’s market share in Spain was 24%, and by March 2021, this proportion had reached 35%, achieving amazing growth. But at the same time, Samsung also increased from 25% in March 2020 to 34% in March this year.

Counterpoint report adds, Xiaomi monthly sales increased 3 percent, mainly due to its entry-level product Redmi 9A and the Redmi K40 series of smartphones strong performance. Xiaomi, similar to other Chinese smartphone brands, has been strategically expanding its business to overseas markets. Companies such as Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO are working hard to fill the gap left by Huawei and Honor.

It is worth noting that, compared with other smaller manufacturers, companies such as Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo have not encountered problems due to the shortage of chips on the market. This helped them advance the new equipment on the market.

Xiaomi has been actively striving for market share and has now become the world’s third-largest smartphone brand after Samsung and Apple. Xiaomi currently has a global market share of 14%, smartphone shipments increased by 62% in the first quarter of this year, and global shipments reached 49 million units.
