iPhone 12 leads Japan’s 5G smartphone shipments to increase 3993% annually

In the past 12 months, the iPhone 12 has successfully led the record for smartphone shipments in Japan. The number of users of the 5G version of iPhone 12 has also increased significantly. The shipment of smartphones in the Japanese market increased by 17%, and the shipment of 5G smartphones increased by 40 times.

Apple is clearly in the leading position in the 5G mobile phone market, successfully accounting for nearly half of the total shipments, and sharing the fruits of victory with Samsung and three Japanese local brands in the list of the top five companies in shipments.

Apple’s iPhone 12 series 4 models launched in October and November 2020 all support 5G, which has greatly promoted the shipment of 5G smartphones in Japan, which is expected to reach 11.01 million units in 2020. This is a 40-fold increase (3993%) from 269,000 units in 2019, and its share in total smartphone shipments has jumped from 1% in 2019 to 33.6%, breaking the 30% mark.
