Tinder reminds daters to think twice before sending potentially offensive messages

Tinder’s latest security features try to reduce the amount of hate and offensive messages sent on its platform. The company plans to start rolling out the “Are you sure?” feature that uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect offensive language. If found, the program will ask the user if they are sure they want to send the message, forcing them to pause before sending.

The company has been testing this feature and said that in the next month, people who see the prompt are unlikely to be reported because of inappropriate information. Tinder believes that the prompt and second confirmation will help. They adjust their behavior for a long time.

Other companies have adopted similar technologies, the most notable of which is Instagram, which launched warnings for potentially offensive content in 2019. The company also automatically hides comments that its artificial intelligence has determined to be offensive, and recently expanded the protection of the system to block words that are deliberately misspelled to avoid comment filters.

Although Tinder does not directly block information, at least not yet, it is pushing people to reconsider their information, which may make the app safer and more popular at least to some extent.
