Samsung will sell millions of Galaxy Z Fold/Flip devices

Although production costs and potential problems are more than ordinary smartphones, such as relatively weak battery life, Samsung is still firmly introducing more new folding screen phones. For the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 product lines, the Korean electronics giant has set a rather ambitious goal, with an expected delivery volume of about 6 to 7 million units.

According to the Korean Media, in order to break sales targets, Samsung is betting that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 with a clamshell design will become a bigger winner in the field of folding screen devices, with expected shipments of 3.5 to 4 million units.

In contrast, the tablet-style Galaxy Z Fold 3 may not attract more people’s interest, but the expected shipment volume is still expected to reach 2.5 to 3 million units. If the shipment target of 6 to 7 million units can be achieved, the performance of Samsung’s new foldable screen for the full “three-year period” will also be 2.4 to 2.8 times that of last year.

However, industry insiders pointed out that the sales target of 3 million units is more realistic than the 6 million expected. Even if Samsung can blame the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, the company did not achieve its expected sales target of 4.5 million units in 2020, and instead only successfully shipped 2.5 million units.
