Apple plans to launch a new iPod Touch this year. The report pointed out that the upcoming iPod will be closer to the iPhone 12 in appearance, and is expected to be launched with the iPhone 13 at the hardware conference this fall.
The report cited the source of Twitter user AppleLe257, who also shared a rendering of the new iPod. These renderings indicate that the iPod will have a design similar to the iPhone 12. It will have square edges and some colorful options. The rendering further shows that the new 2021 iPod will have a single camera on the back.
In November 2020, Apple added ‘iPod touch’ to their Apple Music PR blurb. Well now we know why. This Fall Apple is planning to release the next version of the iPod touch. Thanks to @AppleLe257 for sourcing info & @Apple_Tomorrow for the renders! pic.twitter.com/ImQQj3hxDc

The new iPod Touch uses the design language of the iPhone 12, and there may be a bang on the front of the fuselage for facial recognition. Details on the size of the display and other features are currently unclear. The current 2019 iPod touch has a small 4-inch display with thick bezels around it. Apple may launch an updated model with a larger 5.4-inch or 6.1-inch display.
