Diablo 2 Remake: Two offline MODs are banned and there are security risks

Blizzard recently closed the two MODs of Diablo 2: Remake, namely D2ROffline and D2RModding. The MOD D2ROffline allows players to play Diablo 2: Remake in offline mode. In the Alpha-beta, D2RModding also unlocks other characters that are not available in the Alpha-beta, allowing players to play new characters, unlock levels, and so on.

Blizzard officially stated that the closed two MODs violated Blizzard’s MOD guidelines, and therefore issued a C&D letter to the authors of the two MODs, asking them to take the MOD offline. A MOD author said that Blizzard even asked private investigators to run to his home to deliver letters and warn them.

But this does not mean that the official version of Diablo 2: Remake will not support MOD. Blizzard claims that the game will support MOD, but it does not allow MOD that poses a safety hazard to the game.

Blizzard told to Kotaku: “We admit that one of the important reasons for the longevity of “Diablo 2″ is the strong support of the MOD community. We are very grateful to the MOD authors for their enthusiasm for this game, the classic Diablo 2 MOD Will continue to exist, and we will try our best to continue to support the Diablo 2: Remake mod. But some mods pose a security threat to our game. Security has always been our top priority and we cannot tolerate those possibilities. MOD that will cause major safety issues.”

Diablo 2: Remake will use Blizzard’s new 3D graphics engine development, support players to switch between the old and new screens, support the old version of the archive. The work will be released in 2021, landing on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, XSX/S and Switch.
