Facebook shows how much money Apple and Google take away from creators

Less than two hours before Apple’s global developer conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company will launch a new interface for creators to show how different rate policies affect them on the platform Income. This announcement was made after Apple has been subject to strict scrutiny due to its app store charges.

The picture above is a preview of the new interface. This example accurately breaks down how taxes and fees are deducted from the creator’s activity income. In addition to saying that “more content will be available soon,” Zuckerberg did not specify when the new interface will be launched.

Zuckerberg also stated that the company will keep paid online activities, fan subscriptions, badges and “our upcoming independent news products” free to creators until 2023. This is an extension of a policy announced in August. When Facebook launched its event feature last year, it promised “at least” that it would not charge fees until 2021.

Zuckerberg said the company eventually plans to introduce revenue share, but when it does, it will be “lower than 30% of Apple and other companies.”

Facebook and Apple have also fallen into a public quarrel over Apple’s application tracking transparency feature introduced in iOS 14.5. The former strongly opposed this change. Before its final release, it published full-page ads in newspapers criticizing these changes. Recently, it asked users to allow tracking them to help Facebook and Instagram “keep it free.”
