Google Apps continuously crashing on many Android devices

The Google app continues to crash for a lot of people. Updating the app won’t fix the issues for now, but there is already a temporary fix for the issue.

Google App Crashes

The Google app shows issues on many phones. The app crashes after starting, the app crashes immediately or can’t even be started at all. So you can no longer search with the Google app, read news items in Google Discover on the right-most screen or use the Google Assistant on your phone.

Temporary Solution

There is now much speculation in our Telegram group about possible solutions. With one the update of the Google app works, with the other the problems remain after that. Also deleting the cache of the app followed by a restart does not seem to offer a solution.

Another uninstalled the updates from the app and the app continued to work until new updates are installed. This also applies to several people in the group, as long as you do not install new updates for the Google app, the app will continue to work. Of course, this is not a solution and we have asked Google Netherlands for more clarity and will update this article as soon as we have an answer.

Open the settings on your phone

  • Open Apps
  • Scroll down the list to the Google app and tap it
  • Tap the dots at the top right
  • Tap Uninstall updates.
