Windows 11 build for Insiders testers next week is preparing for distribution

Microsoft just announced its new operating system, called Windows 11. With the centered taskbar and the glass-like transition that Panos Panay calls, this modern and nostalgic operating system is the voice of every Windows enthusiast, especially the Insider community.

Whether you are already a member of Insiders or are about to register to get this system, Microsoft has shared the good news that the new build version will be released next week. However, there seem to be some changes in how Insiders receive the Windows 11 preview.

If you plan to get the internal preview of Windows 11 next week, what do you need to know? First, you need to check whether the device you are using to run the preview version meets the minimum system requirements because the Windows manufacturer has changed some requirements in this version.

In addition, you can download the PC health check application to confirm whether your computer meets these requirements. For those who are already building in the development channel, there may be limited exceptions. Microsoft said that although it is recommended that all computers meet all the hardware requirements of Windows 11, some limited exceptions are allowed when applying these new restrictions.

All Windows Insiders who have installed builds from development channels on their PCs before June 24, 2021, will be allowed to continue to install Windows 11 Insider Preview builds, even if their PCs do not meet the minimum hardware requirements. Since last year, insiders with personal computers that have entered the development channel have been installing builds with Windows 11 features and providing feedback.

Microsoft’s way of expressing gratitude is to allow them to move forward and give them the opportunity to see everything coming. However, this may translate into more errors and problems, and may not even be fixed, because technically speaking, these people’s machines are not Microsoft’s target devices.

In addition, once Windows 11 is released to the public, these devices that do not meet the minimum requirements “will be opted out of the Testfligh process and cannot receive future internal preview versions of Windows 11.”

Those in the test channel will start receiving Windows 11 updates later this summer. Microsoft said it will transfer PCs in the Beta channel that do not meet the Windows 11 hardware requirements to the Release Preview channel. Please note that the exceptions mentioned above are only for those development channels with the fastest update pace.

Amanda Langowsky and Brandon LeBlanc of the Windows Insider team added that the team realizes this is a bit of a big change, “but it will ensure that Windows Insiders have the best experience built with Windows 11 Insider Preview on their PCs.”
