Microsoft allows OEMs to produce Windows 11 computers that do not use any TPM chips

Although Microsoft insists that the TPM 2.0 chip is the basic requirement of Windows 11, it turns out that OEMs can actually show more flexibility. Tom’s Hardware noticed a large article in the Windows 11 Minimum Hardware Requirements” document (PDF) on page 16 of Microsoft. They pointed out:

Microsoft will allow OEM products of special-purpose commercial systems, customized orders, and customer systems with customized images to be shipped without TPM support.

It is worth noting that some countries, such as China and Russia, do not allow any system to be shipped with TPM at all. This sentence clearly shows that the TPM on Windows 11 is more of Microsoft’s choice, rather than the necessity of an operating system that cannot exist.

Although we understand that Microsoft’s motivation is to have a new start, this decision may result in a lot of old hardware and wasted time, because users will abandon hardware that works very well, which is for an environmentally friendly company to advocate It was a bad decision.
