Medical company Masimo filed a patent lawsuit against Apple

According to the latest news, the medical device company Masimo is in a patent lawsuit with Apple over some of the health features in the Apple Watch. Masimo hopes that the court will ban Apple from selling Apple Watch Series 6.

Masimo recently filed a new patent infringement lawsuit with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). According to Masimo, Apple’s Apple Watch Series 6 infringes the company’s five patents related to blood oxygen monitoring.

Masimo’s main business is medical-grade pulse oximeter equipment, and Apple has added blood oxygenation to the Apple Watch Series 6 series models, as well as heart rate monitoring and electrocardiogram functions. Masimo initially sued Apple in January 2020, accusing Apple of stealing its trade secrets and improperly using Masimo’s patents.

In the previous application, Masimo also claimed that Apple secretly poached Masimo employees and used Masimo’s patented technology when developing the Apple Watch sensor. Masimo’s patents are currently being reviewed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
