Samsung substantially increased its notebook OLED panel shipment target this year

According to the latest news, Samsung Display has recently adjusted its shipment target for notebook OLED screen panels this year, increasing from the previous 4 million to 5.5-6 million. This amount is about 40% higher than previously expected.

The company said that due to the new crown epidemic, notebook shipments will continue to grow this year. At the same time, as manufacturers launch more and more OLED screen notebooks, the shipments of such panels need to be adjusted accordingly.

Samsung Display’s current largest OLED panel customer is ASUS, which is expected to provide approximately 1.5 million OLED panels. The second place is Samsung notebooks, which Samsung Display plans to supply 1 million pieces; the third place is HP, which will receive 500,000-600,000 pieces of panels. In other respects, Lenovo, Dell and Xiaomi will each receive 400,000-500,000 OLED panels.

ASUS focuses on the gaming notebook market. OLED screens have a wider color gamut, higher contrast, and fast response time, all of which can meet the requirements of gaming notebooks. As for Lenovo, HP and Dell, although their market share exceeds that of Asustek, their OLED panels will be used in mid-range products. At the same time, Samsung also set a goal this year to ship 1 million OLED notebook computers.

According to statistics from UBI Research, global notebook OLED panel shipments in the first quarter of this year were 1.1 million, exceeding the full year of 2020. At the same time, Samsung Display is currently expanding its OLED production line.
