Huawei submitted a new patent for the under screen camera

On December 15, 2020, Huawei submitted an unknown smartphone design patent application to the National Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) and officially announced it to the outside world on July 9, 2021. Several slightly different appearance designs are depicted in the document.

A flat full screen is used on the front, but no bangs or perforations can be seen, which means that the hidden front camera under the UDC screen will become a major selling point of the device. The volume adjustment and power buttons are located on the right side of the fuselage, and the bottom is the SIM card slot, main microphone, USB-C charging/data port, and speaker grille.

But on the top of the fuselage, you can also see the earpiece grille, secondary microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The back of the fuselage is a vertically arranged rear three-camera + LED flash module, similar to the recently leaked Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

But a derivative version shown on the right side of the picture above seems to have reserved more space for engraving related text on the raised camera frame. Judging from the flat screen, triple camera, and 3.5mm headphone jack, this device should be an entry/mid-range model.

Even so, the screen frame of the machine is still quite slim (the chin part is also), and the hidden front camera under the UDC screen will also be a big selling point. Unfortunately, although Huawei has applied for related patents long ago, we still don’t know which product line the company will try first.
