How long does Battlefield 2042 take a map? DICE: At least half a year

The maps of the Battlefield series are very large, and some players are curious to know how long it will take for the developers of DICE to make a map. DICE recently revealed at an event that the production time of a map can be as short as six months and as long as one year.

DICE revealed this during yesterday’s Future of First-Person Shooter Games developer event. When DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson faced the question of how much time it would take to develop the Battlefield map, he replied: Depending on the size and complexity of the map, the time is between 6 to 12 months. Are there new species? Yes. No new gameplay? Because of the large number of our players, it takes a lot of time to do these tasks. Just balancing everything is a big challenge.

At the event, Christian Grass, general manager of Ripple Effect Studio (formerly DICE LA), confirmed that there will be maps that players love in the new mode of Battlefield 2042. Lars Gustavsson, the Battlefield Godfather who has participated in the Battlefield series for 20 years, is happy to dance with his hands after seeing this new model.

Gabrielson said that players can see this new mode of Battlefield 2042 in the EA Play live broadcast on July 22. The 6-12 month cycle is indeed very long. We only hope that DICE will make more preparations before the launch of Battlefield 2042 so that players will not wait too long to see a new map after the release.
