Samsung SDS Launches Paperless Service

Information technology service provider Samsung SDS today announced the launch of a new service called Paperless that uses blockchain technology to solve falsification and document forgery issues. This service is the latest application of Samsung’s cloud-based Blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) business.

With the help of blockchain technology, it is possible to safely manage various documents that are easily tampered with and forged, such as certificates, consents, and contracts. Jeanie Hong, Senior Vice President of Samsung SDS and Head of DT Platform Business Unit, said:

The launch of the Paperless service is just the beginning. We plan to provide a wide range of cloud-based blockchain services, including identity authentication and payment, to provide our customers with the new value.

Samsung SDS has implemented off-chain technology in the Paperless service, encrypting a large number of files or sensitive personal information and other data and keeping it on a separate server, and only registers the hash value of each data on the blockchain.

This facility can control those files that need to be deleted after a certain period of time, and also help solve the problem of slowing down blockchain transactions due to large amounts of data.

It can also be used for various purposes, such as voting or supporting documents. In addition, since all data history is registered on the blockchain in real-time, it can help ensure the transparency and reliability of the data.

Currently, the Paperless service can be found in the My Trial section of the Samsung SDS website.
