WhatsApp has put an archive function in its chat app that you cannot ignore. The function is prominently at the top of the conversation list. Don’t like that? Then you can adjust that. That’s how you do it.
The archive in WhatsApp is there to easily access your archived chats. This way you keep your conversation list nice and clear, and you can occasionally browse through the archived chats to see if you have missed something important. When a new message arrives in an archived chat, a notification is displayed with the number of unread texts.
WhatsApp has pinned the archive at the top of the screen, and not everyone will like that. We explain how to
- Open WhatsApp on your phone
- Click on the archive at the top of WhatsApp
- Click on the three dots at the top right
- Here tap Archive Settings
- Turn here Chats archived hold out
- After the above option is disabled, the archive will disappear at the top of the screen. If you later want to have the archive at the top of your screen again, you can re-enable it via Settings > Chats > Archived chats.
