The new preview version of Office on iOS now released

For members of the Office Insider project on the iOS platform, Microsoft has introduced a large number of new features for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office Mobile. The latest Office version 2.52 (21072700) adds a status indicator for files that support auto-save so that users can be sure that their changes are safely saved in the cloud.

The new version of Office also allows users to download PDF files in the Office Mobile application for offline access. In the new version, users can also use the Lens camera to extract text and table content.

The new version also introduces a very popular feature: the ability to rescan files when taking screenshots. After installing the latest Office update, Office users on the iPad will also be able to copy all formatting from one object (cell or range) and apply it to another object with one click.

What’s New:

Suitable for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office Mobile

  • Added automatic save status indicator

No one wants to worry about losing their work! This is why we have added a status indicator to any file on iOS that supports autosave. The save status is now clearly displayed next to the application’s file name, so you can be confident that your changes have been safely saved in the cloud.

Suitable for Office Mobile

  • Offline access to PDF files

You can’t expect to be online at all times while you are working. Now you can download your PDF files in Office Mobile so that you can access them even when you are offline. To download an online PDF file to your device, just click the cloud icon (to the left of the three-dot menu indicator).

  • Right-click operation: image into text and table

Now you can use the Lens camera to easily extract text or table content from images. To use this function, start the Lens camera and tap a new action mode. Select the text part of the image, and then click Continue. Then, you can export the text to Word, copy it, or share it.

  • Handwriting support from image to text

With this feature, you can now digitize your handwritten notes and take them anywhere on your device. To try this feature, just click Action>Image to Text. (This feature is currently only available for the English version of Office Mobile)

  • Rearrange scanned documents

One of the most important requirements of users for the scanning function in Office Mobile is the ability to reorder the scanned files during capture. Now you can do it! To try this, use the lens scan to capture some images, then click More> Reorder, and put the files in any order you like.

Suitable for Excel

  • Quickly copy all formats with Format Painter

The Format Painter function is now available on Excel for the iPad, and its function is the same as on the desktop. Format Painter enables you to copy all the formatting from one object (cell or area) and apply it to another object with one click. To try it, select a cell where you want to copy all the formatting. Then click the Format Painter icon (on the main tab) and select the cell you want to copy the format. Tap the icon again to turn off the function.
