Chrome OS received a major update

In the recently updated official blog post, Google detailed many features of the new version of Chrome OS, such as support for eSIM and support for video calls. This update also focuses on improving productivity performance, helping users send messages, make calls, and complete tasks in non-office environments. In addition, an emoji selector has been introduced in the new version.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing in this update is the support for eSIM cards. It allows users to download and switch between different operator profiles without using a physical SIM card. Google pointed out that this new connection option is particularly useful for people who travel abroad frequently and need to switch between different networks on a regular basis.

Of course, eSIM support is only available for eSIM-compatible Chromebooks, such as Acer’s Chromebook 511 and Spin 513. Joining this support is to improve video calls, including adaptive quality based on user network conditions and adjustments to the displayed video performance. Users are sharing their screens.

In this Chrome OS update, the integration of Google Meet has also been enhanced, which is currently pre-installed on the Chromebook, thereby increasing the competition of similar products such as Zoom. According to Google, users can start Google Meet from the Chrome OS Launcher to quickly start or join a new call.

As mentioned earlier, the new update also brings an emoji selector, which can be accessed using new keyboard shortcuts. Press the Search or Lauger key, as well as Shift and Space, to pull up the emoji selector, so you can easily find and insert the emoji you need in messages, emails, and other text items.
