The first release of Battlefield 2042 does not support private servers and ranked mode

According to the pusher BravoIntel, Battlefield 2042 does not support server leasing when it is released, which means that there is no private server when Battlefield 2042 is released, and players can only choose official servers. Ripple Effect (formerly DICE LA), one of the developers, said that they will evaluate server leasing after the game is released, but will not join it at this time.

For a long time, the Battlefield series of private servers have played a very important role in combating cheating. The non-support of Battlefield 2042 will undoubtedly make some players worry about players’ cheating. But then again, the Battlefield series of games rarely support private servers in the first release, and support is basically added long after the release, so Battlefield 2042 is no exception.

It was also pointed out that the Battlefield: Portal mode developed by Ripple Effect supports self-built rooms, which is equivalent to the private server function, but it is not clear whether there is a function of kicking people (cheating players).

In addition, BravoIntel also broke the news that, according to the developers of Ripple Effect, Battlefield 2042 will not have any ranking mode or e-sports mode when it is released. There are three main modes supported when Battlefield 2042 was released:

  • Total War (7 maps)
  • Battlefield Portal (6 re-engraved maps)
  • Battlefield danger zone (EA has confirmed that this mode is not a battle royale).
