Samsung applies Galaxy Referral trademark

Samsung will hold an Unpacked conference next Wednesday (August 11) and will launch many new products including the Galaxy Z Fold 3/Flip 3 foldable phones. In order to increase the attractiveness of new products, Samsung also launched a pre-order campaign, buying a foldable phone with a new Galaxy Buds 2 earphones.

Samsung also launched a Referral referral program. The plan is that when a user purchases and creates an account, you will receive a referral code, which you can give to friends. Your friends will get a 5% discount, and you will also get bonus points, which can be used for direct discounts in Samsung’s online store. The latest trademark obtained indicates that Samsung plans to expand the referral program and applied for the Galaxy Referral trademark.

Samsung Electronics submitted a trademark application to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and Australia to the Intellectual Property Office of Australia (IP Australia) on August 2 and 3 respectively. The so-called name is Galaxy Referral. The application is classified as category 9/35 and is described as follows:

Samsung Galaxy Referral Trademark: to provide information to consumers downloadable software, namely smartphones, smartwatches, tablet PCs, mobile computers, earbuds, headphones, audio speakers, smart labels and the commodities accessories business deals related And discounts, loyalty programs, benefits and recommendations.

As can be seen from the description, this trademark is similar to the recommendation program that Samsung has already launched. But this is the first time the name Galaxy has appeared. Previously, Samsung only wrote Samsung Referral Program on its official website.

Of course, Samsung may just be changing the name to be more consistent with the Galaxy product line. However, it is also possible to expand the referral program. For example, if you recommend a certain number of friends, additional points/discounts may be given.
