Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra latest conceptual design

As the Galaxy Unpacked conference this month comes to an end, everyone is beginning to wonder what improvements will be brought about by the Samsung Galaxy S22 series of smart opportunities in the first half of 2022. Today, Lets Go Digital has joined hands with well-known concept designer Jermaine Smit to show us the style of the Galaxy S22 Ultra model he imagined.

Although the more cost-effective Galaxy S21 Fan Edition model in transmission failed to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked conference this month, and there is still about half a year before the first new product launch in 2022, graphic designer Jermaine Smit still Brings us a set of fairly high-quality conceptual renderings of the new flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The biggest surprise in this set of conceptual renderings is the 3.5mm audio jack, microSD storage expansion slot, and the standard original charging adapter that everyone has been thinking of. It is expected that the Galaxy S22 family will still provide three subdivision models. In addition to the basic entry version, there are also the mid-spec Galaxy S22+ and the flagship-positioned Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Compared with the other two models, Galaxy S22 Ultra obviously has some unique flagship features. It is said that the device will exclusively enjoy a curved screen (6.81 inches 120Hz adaptive refresh rate), while the Galaxy S22+ and standard models will have a flat-screen.

With the abandonment of the Galaxy Note series, Samsung provided support for the S Pen stylus for the Galaxy S21 Ultra models earlier this year. Unfortunately, consumers also bid farewell to the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD storage expansion options.

Some time ago, due to the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack, mainstream smartphone manufacturers have been pushing true wireless headphones to consumers. Although the performance of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds Pro is remarkable, many consumers are still dissatisfied. But if Samsung designers are moved by Sony’s Xperia 1 III’s persistence, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to bring back features such as the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD storage expansion slot.

In terms of battery, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may remain unchanged at 5000 mAh, and it comes standard with a fast-charging source adapter with a power exceeding 25W. As for whether it is 45W or the legendary 65W, it is currently unknown. In terms of taking pictures, the new Galaxy Z Fold 3 folding screen has already used the hidden camera under the UPC screen. But for image quality considerations, its resolution is only 4MP.

As the technology is still immature, we guess that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will continue to use the 40MP perforated screen proactive solution on the Galaxy S21. As for the rear camera, the device may use a three-camera combination of 108 million pixels wide-angle main camera + ultra-wide-angle sub-camera + variable aperture telephoto.

In addition, with the 3D ToF sensor used on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, laser autofocus is still expected to bring a faster depth measurement and focus experience for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. In terms of chips, Galaxy S21 Ultra has used Exynos 2100, which integrates ARM Cortex-X1 CPU, ARM Mali-G78 GPU, and 5G modem.

However, as Samsung and AMD reach a graphics technology cooperation, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to use the 4nm Exynos 2200 chipset, and integrate AMD RDNA 2 GPU that supports light tracking and variable rate shading. Interestingly, it is rumored that the Galaxy S22 Ultra may introduce the Active Fan Mode active cooling solution submitted for trademark registration in June this year.

In terms of software, the Galaxy S22 series will be pre-installed with a new version of OneUI customized based on the Android 12 mobile operating system, supplemented by a 3-year major version update and a 4-year firmware update (the enterprise version is 5 years). Finally, it is speculated that Samsung will continue to reduce the starting cost of the Galaxy S22 series, supplemented by classic Phantom Silver and Phantom Black colors to attract more potential consumers to buy.

For reference, the current 12GB RAM + 128GB ROM version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra model is listed at 1,250 Euros. If Samsung finally decides not to introduce a microSD storage expansion slot, the initial storage capacity of the Galaxy S22 Ultra maybe 256GB.
