Android 12 introduces smart screen rotation feature based on face detection

Although the Android mobile operating system provides the function of rotating the screen automatically following the direction in which the device is used, in daily use, there may still be situations where the system cannot understand the user’s true intentions.

To resolve this embarrassment, Google has introduced a smarter Auto-Rotate Screen mechanism in the new generation of the Android 12. Specifically, in the newly introduced setting options, users have been able to turn on the screen rotation function based on face detection as needed.

Compared with the existing solution that judges the holding direction of the device based solely on the built-in accelerometer of the mobile phone, Android 12 can also make full use of the front camera of the mobile phone as a reference. By sensing the user’s face position when necessary, the system can ensure that the screen is always in a matching orientation.

Interested friends, please refer to the activation method on the Pixel series smartphones. As for how other Android device manufacturers will adjust the software interface and specific functions, it is currently unknown.
