Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 pre-orders surpass the Galaxy S21 and Note20 series

From August 17th to 23rd, Samsung received 920,000 pre-orders for Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Z Flip 3 5G in Korea. This means that in terms of orders for the first week, the order volume of this foldable 2-in-1 phone has surpassed that of the Galaxy Note 20, and even surpassed that of the Galaxy S21. Previously, the pre-orders of S21 in South Korea surpassed the pre-orders of the S20 series.

This may be a signal that the era of foldable phones has really come. Compared with last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2, it may be more convincing. Two days before the launch of the second-generation foldable phone, the number of pre-orders was only 60,000.

According to Bloomberg reporter Sohee Kim, taking into account the price difference between the two, most of the new orders are made up of the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 3, accounting for about 70%, and the higher-priced Z Fold 3 accounts for the other 30% (Fold is about 60-70% expensive), even so, the pre-order quantity of Z Fold3 is more than 4 times of its predecessor.

Of course, this data only focuses on the Korean market, but European demand also seems to be strong, at least better than Samsung’s own expectations. Yesterday, Samsung emailed customers in Germany that their orders might be delayed due to strong demand. Later Max Jambor reported that similar situations have been seen in the UK and France, and the delivery dates of some Galaxy Z Flip 3 have been postponed to September 9 or later.
