OnePlus Nord 2 camera DxOMark announced

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G has undergone the DxOMark test. The smartphone features a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP monochrome third camera. According to the new classification by price range, the device ranks first in the Advanced category (between $ 200 and $ 399), ahead of Google Pixel 4a, Mi 11 Lite 5G and the first generation North.

Instead, it is 47th in the global ranking which includes – among others – top-of-the-range smartphones. The overall score is 116, the one for the Photo item is 125, Zoom 43 and Video 105.

Results

The improvement compared to OnePlus Nord is clear (116 vs 108), made possible above all by a good exposure and an excellent autofocus system, both above average – according to DxOMark – in this segment. If the score of 125 is the highest in the category for photos, the same cannot be said for the Zoom, which pays for the absence of the telephoto lens.

Trying to zoom in on the scene leads to a grainy, poor-quality image. Good for the ultra-wide-angle, among the best in the category. Video side (105), there are improvements compared to the North and the same score is achieved as for the iPhone SE 2020. They particularly liked the color reproduction in almost all conditions, although in low light there is a lack of detail and too many software artifacts.

In summary:

  • Good: dynamic range, color reproduction, autofocus, white balance, exposure, detail and color rendition in videos.
  • Less good: few details, artifacts, noise in dark shots, grainy zoom-in, noise and few details in dark videos.
