Edge 95 optimizes the PDF reading experience

Microsoft continues to enhance the PDF reading experience in Microsoft Edge. After adding the Add Text function, Microsoft again introduced pick up where they left off in the latest version of Edge 95. Generally speaking, opening a PDF file with Chrome or Edge will start from the beginning, instead of letting you resume/continue reading from the last page, you were on. If you are reading a book, when Edge remembers the last PDF page you browsed, when you reopen it, you can continue reading from there instead of manually navigating to that page. In most cases, you May not remember the page number.

Some lightweight PDF readers, Sumatra and Adobe Reader DC all have this feature. For Sumatra PDF, you need to enable the Remember opened files option, and for Adobe, you need to make sure to check the “Restore last viewing settings when reopening the file” option in the file settings. Today, Microsoft added a new setting for PDF files in Edge so that when you reopen the PDF file, the browser can remember and restore the last viewing position of the PDF file. Enabling method:

  • Enable Edge browser.
  • Click the menu icon and select Settings.
  • Click on cookies and website permissions.
  • Select the PDF document under the site permissions.
  • Enable PDF View Settings and take care of When you reopen the file, open the PDF to the last viewed position.
