Epic asks Apple to restore the developer account in order to relist Fortnite in South Korea

After the newly passed bill forced Google and Apple to allow apps to use alternative payment systems, Epic Games has asked Apple to restore its developer account for Fortnite in order to continue publishing the game in South Korea.

Through the official Twitter account of Fortnite, Epic tweeted: Epic has asked Apple to restore our Fortnite developer account. Epic intends to re-release Fortnite on the iOS system in South Korea. At the same time Provide Epic Pay and Apple Pay meet the requirements of the new Korean law.

It is unclear whether Apple will agree to this request, nor whether Epic’s intentions are true: After all, Epic used Apple’s response to its previous request to help it launch the original #FreeFortnite legal trap.

In August 2020, a few hours after Epic introduced bypassing Apple’s own direct payment system in the game, Apple kicked Fortnite from the App Store. Subsequently, Epic sued Apple and began a controversial legal battle between the two companies. The case opened in May, and we are still waiting for the verdict. Throughout the process, “Fortress Night” never appeared on the App Store.
