Nintendo Switch: The price cut is official, waiting for the OLED model

The rumors circulated in the last few days have proved to be correct (in part) and today Nintendo has formalized the price cut of the first Switch model. This is the first reduction applied to the price list since the launch in 2017, which aims to further distance the basic variant from the now imminent Switch OLED which will arrive in October (which we talked about in preview), a sign that the console will remain also available on the market following the release of the new variant.

The updated list price of Switch, therefore, goes from 329.99 euros to 299.99 euros, a reduction of 30 euros that is certainly not comparable to the cut assumed by the rumors – there was talk of 269-279 euros -, but that serves to bring the console below the psychological threshold of 300 euros. Probably the street price will adjust accordingly and we imagine that it will not be difficult to find the console even around 250 euros.

Starting next October 8, Nintendo’s lineup will therefore consist of 3 models: Switch OLED proposed at 349.99 euros, Switch at 299.99 euros and Switch Lite at 219.99 euros (list prices). Recall that all consoles adopt the same hardware and the differences mainly lie in the design, form factor, size and quality of the screens, but the gaming experience is the same between all platforms.
