This Tuesday, UBports released the Ubuntu Touch OTA-19 version update. This is an Ubuntu Linux distribution for smartphones and tablets. This OTA-19 update is still based on the outdated Ubuntu 16.04 LTS code base, and subsequent versions will transition to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
However, the Ubuntu Touch team is still working hard. After all, the two release versions are 4 years apart, which involves a lot of basic changes. Since it is still based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, the update rate of OTA-19 is not large. Halium 5.1/7.1 devices are now compatible with gyroscopes and magnetic field sensors, the message application no longer automatically pops up the keyboard, and better handling of WiFi authentication prompts.
Ubuntu Touch OTA-19 is available for a variety of devices, including many Xiaomi and Sony Xperia phones as well as the original BQ and Meizu Ubuntu phones, Fairphone 2/3, LG Nexus 4/5, and various other Android devices.
