Canonical launches Ubuntu Linux 21.10 Beta test version with multiple flavors to choose from

On Friday, Canonical finally launched the Beta test version of Ubuntu Linux 21.10. It can be seen that this operating system code-named Impish Indri uses the 5.13 version of the Linux kernel. At the same time, the attached Firefox browser is also a Snap, not a typical deb package, which may make some users feel a little confused.

Brian Murray said: Canonical has a glorious tradition of integrating the best open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The development team has been working hard to improve Ubuntu Linux 21.10 this cycle, bringing new features and bug fixes to it.

In addition, the newly released Beta test version not only covers images of Ubuntu desktops, servers, and cloud products, but also includes Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, and Xubuntu-style images.

As the latest snapshot of Ubuntu 21.10, the Beta version is functionally quite close to the final version. Interested friends can choose the corresponding KDE Plasma, Budgie or the default GNOME desktop environment. However, since it is still in the testing phase, please remember not to force deployment in the production environment and make corresponding data backups to avoid unexpected situations.
