Teardown report confirms iPhone 13 Pro uses 6GB LPDDR4X memory

Just pull out a current Android flagship device, the configuration of 12GB LPDDR5 memory can be said to be blooming everywhere, however, Apple just does not follow this trend. The dismantling of the iPhone 13 Pro by iFixit confirmed that the device is still equipped with LPDDR4X memory with a capacity of 6GB, and the supplier is SK Hynix.

On paper, LPDDR4X was released in 2016, while LPDDR5 was only released in 2019. In terms of specifications, LPDDR5 not only has larger bandwidth and faster speed than LPDDR4X, but it also has a finer voltage regulation mechanism and lower power consumption.

Some Apple advocates believe that LPDDR4X is more mature and has higher output, so iPhone 13 insists on choosing it. There are also opponents who say that Apple is just to reduce costs, and other reasons are just excuses.

Of course, in fact, most consumers do not need to dig out each hardware parameter. At least in terms of the overall performance of the iPhone 13 with iOS 15, Apple’s hardware combination is not a big problem, not to mention the existence of A15 silently.
