OPPO announces the ColorOS 12 in a global version: that’s when it will arrive

OPPO today announces the global version of ColorOS 12 based on Android 12, which introduces a brand new user interface and improvements in terms of customization, performance and productivity. The release of the first beta is also underway, which for now concerns some Asian markets and the OPPO Find X3 Pro 5G smartphone.

The ColorOS 12 was officially unveiled less than a month ago in China, but today we begin to know the global version that will arrive on the manufacturer’s smartphones (and apparently also on some OnePlus). The new user interface is inspired by OPPO’s Infinite design and in the latter’s words offers a more inclusive experience and smoother graphics at the same time.

Thanks to the anti-fragmentation system and intelligent distribution of resources, the ColorOS 12 is more fluid, without lag or slowdowns even after prolonged use. The optimizations introduced by OPPO have allowed a decrease in the wear rate of the system of 2.75% in three years, a 30% lower memory usage and a 20% lower battery consumption.

The Quantum Animation Engine adopts more than 300 new animations for more dynamic and realistic effects, but there are several other useful features: among these PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate with Google Lens, FlexDrop (for better multitasking) and PhoneManager, designed for productivity.

The ColorOS 12 remains open to all Android developers, and that is why the Chinese house offers not only free Software Development Kits for the camera (which include Ultra Steady Video Shooting, HDR and Super Wide-Angle) but also the HyperBoost and Color Vision Enhancement functionality.

Regarding privacy, OPPO claims to have collected a lot of feedback from users. The ColorOS 12 not only integrates the functions designed by Google with Android 12, such as Privacy Dashboards, the ability to provide approximate localization and indicators that warn when microphone and camera are in use, but also other features designed by OPPO itself, such as Private System, Private Safe, App Lock and more.

Thanks to the presence of servers located in different locations around the world, the Chinese company guarantees that user data is stored only in the closest ones in a non-textual format (and transmitted only with a proprietary protocol).
