Are you using WhatsApp on an older Android phone? Which phones will no longer work with WhatsApp?
If your Android is on Android version 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or higher, you’re good. For all phones with an older Android version, so Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), WhatsApp support will stop on November 1, 2021. This Android version was announced in March 2012 and that is now nine years ago. In that year, the LG Nexus 4, the Samsung Galaxy S3, the LG Optimus G and the HTC One X were launched. iPhone owners must have an iPhone running at least iOS 10 or later. WhatsApp will stop support for the iPhone 4 and 4S, among other things.

What Android version is your phone running on?
Depending on the phone, there are different ways to find the Android version.
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap About phone > About phone > Phone info
- With Software Data is the Android version that your phone runs
What can you do?
For the phones that run on the above software, WhatsApp will stop the development of its app. So it is possible that some functions will no longer work. New functions will of course also not be usable. You can also no longer create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts. So uninstalling and reinstalling the chat app will cause problems and making a backup is recommended.
