Microsoft bringing icons into the taskbar feature back to Windows 11

So far, Windows 11 has received positive responses from users. Although most of them are well-deserved improvements, a considerable number of people are still dissatisfied with Microsoft’s decision to cancel certain features. One of the shortcomings of the latest Windows desktop operating system is that the new taskbar is not as functional as previous versions of Windows, and the inability to drag files into the file explorer and other application icons on the taskbar is one of the limitations.

Fortunately, the company is willing to fix some limitations in the upcoming Windows 11 version. According to sources, Microsoft is currently preparing to restore Windows 11’s ability to drag icons into the taskbar, and patches containing these improvements are ready to be released after Christmas. Users of the development channel will be the first to experience this feature. (If the voice of the masses is high enough, users of the official version channel can enjoy it in advance.

Microsoft has been studying the taskbar drag-and-drop function since August this year or earlier because it first appeared on the Windows 11 Build 22458 released in August. However, in order for this function to work, the registry needs to be modified. The good news is that after Christmas (hopefully), anyone with the latest beta version of Windows 11 will be able to use the drag-and-drop feature without having to modify the registry.

Microsoft will include a large number of other changes in the upcoming Windows 11 development version. When Microsoft tests and releases a new version, we will learn about these changes. Please continue to pay attention.
